Founder, Managing Partner
Baltimore, MD
Having spent his entire career investing in the lower-middle market, Kevin McAllister founded Access Holdings in 2013 to build an investment firm focused on acquiring businesses it wants to own, rather than simply those that are for sale. This purposeful approach has shaped Access’s data and research-driven investment strategy and its focus on building market-leading essential services businesses across North America through a programmatic, technology-enabled value creation system.
Access began as an Independent Sponsor, with Kevin completing the firm’s first three investments through that model before raising its first institutional fund. Today, Access is investing from its second fund while maintaining the entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on approach that shaped the firm from its earliest days.
As Founder & Managing Partner, Kevin leads the firm’s strategy, investment activities and platform vision, partnering with management teams to build enduring businesses through organic growth, strategic acquisitions, and operational transformation. In addition to investing in existing companies, Kevin has played a leading role in the formation and scaling of several platform businesses, helping shape strategy, recruit leadership teams, and position companies for long-term growth.
Headquartered in Baltimore, and with a presence in New York, Kevin and the Access team have grown the firm to more than $2.3 billion in assets under management and over 50 team members.
Before founding Access, Kevin held investment roles at American Capital Strategies and leading business consultancies, focusing on investment origination, execution, negotiation, and portfolio company management. He earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in Economics from Dickinson College.
